Open Water Swims

We will be swimming at Moreau Lake State Park in 2023!  E-mail the club at saratogatriclub@gmail.com if you are interested in helping out with the swim committee.

Our 2023 swim season will run from Thursday 6/6/24 through Thursday 8/29/24. Swims take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:10 p.m (longer when the days are long and the water warms up a bit). We ask that you arrive early to get checked in.

You can also swim at Moreau on your own once the water warms up. If you choose to do this, know that this is at your own risk, and please use the buddy system and don't swim alone. Stay away from the buoys marking the guarded swim area and be aware of other non-motorized boats. If you have a swim buoy, use that for greater visibility.

Capital District Triathlon Club is conducting swims at Crystal Lake in Averill Park.  Details can be found here:  http://www.cdtriclub.org/ 

Qualifying

All participants need to sign a waiver.  If you are a member, this waiver will have been signed upon your registration through RunSignup. Non-members can fill out a form on-site at swim to provide emergency contact information and acknowledge the waiver.  Swim "qualification" is no longer required.

Fees

Annual club membership, $65, includes all swim sessions.  For others, a fee of $15 can be paid. Please become a member!

There is an $8 fee to enter Moreau Lake State Park. You can save money by buying an Empire Passport which gets you unlimited access to not only Moreau, but all the parks within the NYS Parks system for the summer.

We hold swims rain or shine; however, when severe weather is predicted, please check our mailing list and STC Forums page for all updates on swim cancellations. For 2024, we will aim to hold make-up swims through 7/18.

Child Care

A sitter is available at most swims.  The sitter charges $5.00 per child for the swim.  Please pay the sitter directly (cash) at each swim.  We will also provide updates on our STC Forums Facebook page to update when a sitter is and is not available.
